Case History Science and Medicine rely on Case History, published papers or detailed notes, enabling them to keep a check on the efficacy of the drugs and treatments prescribed to their patients. At the same time gaining the recognition throughout the science/medical world and the world at large. Nothing wrong with that. Are we not all striving to be achievers, is that not what makes us good patients in the first place. Striving to be well as a result of our medics practising on us. Confidentiality is a value expanded by our medical teams and rightly so, surely it our right for our very private medical information to be totally secret from everyone. Even in Clinical studies! Confidentiality from The Pain Relief Therapist’s point of view has a different consideration; Working within the confines of a person’s mind, information comes to hand that places confidentiality from the Doctors point of view almost into the public domain- not to say that our Doctors are not totally confidential in their work. Meaning to say this, information contained within our minds as the creator of illness is so private and confidential that my code of ethics do not allow the keeping of notes that would revel anything about a person and as for being put into a case history or worse still a book/biography. It is out of the question, not just for the moment or until the patient has seemingly forgotten what they have told me. But for all time. All the Pain Relief Therapist can talk/write about is what symptoms/pain/illness of mind and body have been effectively treated, or believes can be treated with Pain Relief Techniques and understandings.
